A genogram, put simply, is a family tree. But as we all know, families are anything but simple. In this workshop we will use this tool to delve much deeper into our family histories, in an intimate group process that will encourage empathy and self-discovery. We will trace the impact of trauma, illness, culture and spirituality, migration, and even sibling rivalry and communication style. All will learn the basics of how to map these patterns, and those who feel comfortable will have an opportunity to share and collaborate on their process with the group.
What patterns can we spot in our own unique genograms? What can we learn about where we've been and where we'd like to go? This group is meant as an educational introduction to what we call "family of origin" work, which each of us may build upon on our own and/or with the support of a therapist.
