Thy Will Be Done

Prayer of Supplication | Taylor

O Almighty God, who pours out the spirit of grace and of supplication on all who desire it: Deliver us, when we draw near to You, from coldness of heart and wanderings of mind, that with steadfast thoughts and kindled affections we may worship You in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer | All

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

Prayer for the Victims of Mass Shootings | Aaron + Lyric

Our Father, 250 mass shootings in the United States of America in 216 days.

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy.

For the people of Gilroy, of El Paso, of Dayton: for their grief, their anger, their loss, their fear; for the peace and lives that have been shattered.

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy.

For the families wrecked with the loss of their children, their parents, their friends, their neighbors, their family.

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy.

For the insidious evil that is white supremacy and white nationalism that has always been present within our country and continues unabated: Lord, come quickly. We pray for your victory and our repentance.

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy.

For our collective, national addiction to anger, hatred, division, segregation, and weapons of war in the name of safety and security: help us beat our swords into plowshares; help us desire peace, unity, love, and reconciliation.

Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy.

May our thoughts and prayers spurn us to a collective, national action that removes this scourge from our land.

Your Kingdom Come.

Your Kingdom Come.

Your Kingdom Come.

Your Kingdom Come.

Your Kingdom Come.

Amen, amen, and amen.

Prayer of Response | Trevor

Grant us, Almighty God, that the words which we have heard this day with our ears, may, through Your grace, be so grafted inwardly in our hearts, that they may bring forth in us the fruit of good living, to the honor and praise of Your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Benediction | Taylor

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, hard hearts, half-truths, and superficial relationships so that you may seek truth boldly and live from deep within your heart where God’s Spirit dwells.

May God bless you with anger: at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that we may work for justice, freedom, and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war, so that we may reach out our hand in comfort and turn their pain into joy.

May God bless you with foolishness to believe that through Jesus Christ we’ll have the strength and power necessary to create change in this world and in our neighborhood, so that together we will courageously try what others claim cannot be done.

May God bless you with remembrance that we are called to continue God’s redemptive work of love and healing in God’s place, in and through God’s name, in God’s Spirit, continually creating and breathing new life and grace into everything and everyone we touch. Amen.
